Breaking Morning News: Pedestrian hit and killed by Jeep in Clay County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Clay County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:56 am, a  2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 28-year-old Green Cove Springs woman was traveling eastbound on Avenue B located on the Camp Blanding military base.

As it approached, the front of the Jeep collided with a 38-year-old Keystone Heights man walking eastbound on Avenue B.

The pedestrian came to a final rest on the right shoulder of the roadway, and the Jeep came to a controlled stop on the same shoulder.

According to the FHP report, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries during the crash. The Jeep driver reported no injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
