Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Clay County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:05 pm, a pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old Green Cove Springs man was traveling southbound on CR-209 South at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate a left curve in the roadway.
As a result, the pickup truck left the road onto the west shoulder, collided with the tree line on the west shoulder, and overturned, coming to a final rest on its roof.
The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the collision.
