Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Columbia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash in Columbia County last night that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:56 pm, a 53-year-old White Springs man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling southbound on US 41 in the area of Northwest Kelly Lane.

The SUV left the roadway for unknown reasons, causing it to go airborne over a culvert. The vehicle came back to the ground and overturned, resulting in the driver being ejected.

The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
