Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:47 p.m., a Honda Accord driven by a 61-year-old Weeki Wachee man was traveling westbound on Hodza Street.
At the same time, a Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 51-year-old Brooksville woman was traveling northbound on US-41, and a GMC Envoy, driven by a 50-year-old Brooksville man, was traveling northbound on US-41 behind the second vehicle.
At the intersection of the two roadways, the first vehicle ran a stop sign, entered the path of, and was struck by the second vehicle. The first vehicle rotated in the intersection and was subsequently struck by the third vehicle.
Driver 1 suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the second vehicle, along with a passenger in the first vehicle (a 52-year-old Youngsville, NC woman), suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle, along with a passenger in the second vehicle (a 56-year-old Brooksville man), reported minor injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
