From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Pinellas County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:55 am, a Honda Odyssey, driven by a 36-year-old Clearwater man, was traveling eastbound on Ulmerton Road.
At the same time, a Nissan Sentra driven by a 39-year-old Cutler Bay man was traveling eastbound behind the first vehicle.
West of 40th Street North, a 69-year-old Clearwater man attempted to walk across the highway. The pedestrian entered the path and was struck by both vehicles in successive order.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or pedestrian involved in the collision.
