Hit-and-Run driver kills pedestrian; driver dies after single-vehicle collision

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision last night and a single-vehicle collision this morning in Dixie County.

FHP looking for hit-and-run driver that killed pedestrian

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:55 pm Saturday, a 42-year-old Old Town man was struck by an unknown (possibly Ford) pickup truck in the roadway of NE 316th Avenue near the area of NE 497th Street.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This incident is still under investigation. The FHP will release further information about the pickup truck as the investigation progresses.

The FHP did not release the name of the pedestrian.

Driver dies in single-vehicle collision

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:33 a.m. this morning, a 52-year-old Old Town man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling north on NE 349 HWY.

For unknown reasons, the SUV left the roadway to the right, entering the east grass shoulder. The vehicle collided with a fence. Following impact, the SUV began traveling in a northerly direction and began to overturn. It continued to overturn, crossing over NE 303 Avenue.

The SUV came to rest on the north side of NE 303 Avenue, facing a southwesterly direction.

The driver was pronounced deceased on scene by Dixie County EMS.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver.
