Updating Breaking News: 14-year-old bicyclist hit and killed by SUV in Collier County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision yesterday in Collier County that resulted in the death of a bicyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5 pm, a 14-year-old male from Naples riding an E-bicycle was traveling east on Madison Drive, approaching a posted stop sign at the intersection of Lakeland Avenue.
At the same time, a 45-year-old Naples man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling south on Lakeland Avenue (no stop sign).
As they approached, the bicyclist entered the intersection and traveled into the path of the approaching SUV, and they collided.
The bicyclist sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and was later pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
At the same time, a 29-year-old Naples man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling north on the center lane of US 41, approaching a green light at the intersection of Wiggins Pass Road.
As they approached, the bicyclist entered the intersection in front of the approaching SUV and collided.
The bicyclist sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and was later pronounced deceased.
The SUV driver reported no injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or bicyclist involved in the crash.
