Updating Breaking News: 88-year-old driver dies after collision with tractor-trailer in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:55 a.m., a Ford Escape, driven by an 88-year-old Crystal River man, was traveling southbound on US-19. 

At the same time, a tractor-trailer driven by a 50-year-old man from Albany, Georgia, was traveling northbound on US-19. 

At the intersection of Dunnellon Road, Vehicle 1 turned left into the path of and was struck by Vehicle 2.  Driver 1 suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.  Driver 2 suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. 

 The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
