Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after three-vehicle collision in Levy County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision this morning in Levy County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:45 am, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Williston woman was traveling north on SR-121 and attempted to pass a northbound tractor-trailer driven by a 59-year-old Williston man while a sedan driven by a 71-year-old Williston man was oncoming in the southbound lane.

The SUV driver failed to observe the oncoming sedan in time and collided in the southbound lane. The SUV rotated and struck the tractor-trailer's left side tractor tandems with its rear section.

The sedan driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The SUV driver was transported to Shands UF with incapacitating injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver reported no injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
