From the Florida Highway Patrol and Staff Reports
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Levy County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:08 pm, a pickup truck driven by a 41-year-old Eagle Lake man was traveling north on State Road 121, and a van driven by a 57-year-old Inglis man was traveling south on State Road 121.
As they approached, the pickup truck partially exited the roadway onto the east grass shoulder. The driver lost control and overcorrected back towards the roadway. The pickup crossed over the center line and struck the van's left front section with its right front section.
Both vehicles then rotated counterclockwise. The first vehicle came to rest, obstructing the southbound lane of State Road 121, and the second vehicle came to rest on the west grass shoulder on its left side.
The pickup driver was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the van driver was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
The investigation will be ongoing.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
