Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this afternoon in Levy County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:50 pm, a Mercedes sedan driven by a 61-year-old Dunnellon man was traveling east on Highway 40.
While attempting to negotiate a left curve, the vehicle left the roadway to the right, entering the south grass shoulder, began to overturn, and collided with a fence.
The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger, a 65-year-old Dunnellon woman, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the collision.
