Updating Breaking News: Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle in Putnam County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a truck and two pedestrians yesterday in Putnam County.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:15 pm, an Isuzu truck driven by a 51-year-old Palatka man was eastbound in the eastbound lane on West Towles Avenue East of Robinson Avenue.

At the same time, two Palatka men, ages 46 and 52, were standing next to a ride-on lawnmower in the Eastbound lane of Towles Avenue East of Robinson Avenue.

As they approached, the truck attempted to pass both pedestrians, striking them both.

Both pedestrians were transported to the local hospital for their injuries; one was treated and released from the hospital, and the other was transported to HCA Orange Park Hospital and pronounced deceased.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver or pedestrians involved in the crash.
