Updating Breaking News: One dead, three injured after a two-vehicle collision in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a driver and injuries to three passengers.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:03 am, a dump truck driven by a 34-year-old Ocala man was traveling westbound on West Homosassa Trail. 

At the same time, a Dodge minivan, driven by a 50-year-old Homosassa woman, was traveling eastbound on West Homosassa Trail. 

As they approached, the first vehicle attempted to turn left into 4816 West Homosassa Trail, entered the path, and was struck by the second vehicle. 

The dump truck driver was not injured during the incident; however, the minivan driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

Traveling as passengers in the minivan were the children of the second driver, a 16-year-old female, a 15-year-old female, and a 12-year-old male, all of whom suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.     

 The FHP did not release the drivers' names or the passengers involved in the crash.
