Breaking Afternoon News: Motorcyclist hit and killed by vehicle in Hillsborough County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this afternoon in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:39 pm, a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 28-year-old Brandon man, was traveling eastbound on SR-60. 

At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 42-year-old Dover man, was traveling westbound on SR-60. 

At the intersection of Dover Road, the motorcycle turned left under a green traffic signal while the first vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic signal.  As a result, the two vehicles collided. 

Transported to an area hospital, the motorcyclist later expired from injuries suffered during the collision. 

The FHP did not release the name of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
