Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after a two-vehicle collision in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:28 pm, a Chevy Cavalier, driven by a 70-year-old Thonotosassa woman, was traveling southbound on 7th Street, in the northbound travel lane, approaching Robinson Avenue. 

At the same time, a Ford Ranger, driven by a 31-year-old Plant City man, was traveling southbound on 7th Street, in the left turning lane, approaching Robinson Avenue. 

As they approached, the second vehicle attempted a left turn at the intersection, and the two vehicles collided. 

After the impact, the first vehicle departed the roadway and collided with a building located at 14330 7th Street, while the second vehicle came to a controlled stop on 7th Street. 

Transported to an area hospital, the driver of the first vehicle, who was unrestrained, later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. 

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
