Updating Breaking News: FHP arrests driver for DUI Manslaughter after a fatal single-vehicle collision in Citrus County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision on April 23rd in Citrus County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:55 pm, a Chevy Blazer was traveling westbound on West Fort Island Trail at a high rate of speed, west of Seabreeze Point, and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle departed the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned. 

A 23-year-old male passenger from Citrus Springs was uninjured; however, a 23-year-old female passenger from Citrus Springs suffered serious injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and later expired from her injuries. 

The uninjured driver, 26-year-old Dexter Nicholas Landstrom of Dunnellon, was later arrested by FHP Troopers for Reckless Driving and DUI Manslaughter after providing a breath sample of 0.151.

The FHP did not release the names of the passengers involved in the collision.
