Breaking News this Morning: One dead, one seriously injured after SUV collides with log truck in Glades County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Glades County this morning that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:21 am, a 60-year-old Miami man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling south on US 27, on the outside lane, south of Woodward Road.

At the same time, a 38-year-old Lehigh Acres man driving a loaded log truck trailer was traveling south on US 27, on the outside lane at a slow speed, ahead of the SUV.

As they approached, the SUV driver 1 failed to slow down for the log truck, and they collided.

A 55-year-old Miami woman, who was a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver suffered serious injuries, according to the FHP report.

The driver and passenger in the log truck reported no injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
