Breaking News this Morning: Pedestrian dies after collision with two vehicles in Duval County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Duval County this morning that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP incident report, at approximately 4:50 am, a 25-year-old Jacksonville woman driving a sport utility vehicle and an 84-year-old Butler, TN man driving a pickup truck were traveling northbound on Interstate 95 approaching mile marker 332.

At the same time, a 21-year-old New Smyrna beach woman was involved in a crash at mile marker 332.

As they approached, the pedestrian stood on the left, yellow-painted edge line. The pedestrian's vehicle was disabled, blocking the left and center lanes.

The SUV and pickup truck were in the left lane. The driver of the SUV veered right, then veered left to avoid the disabled vehicle. The front right of it struck the pedestrian.

The SUV came to a controlled stop on the left shoulder.

Then, the pickup truck veered left to avoid the disabled vehicle, where the front left of it struck the pedestrian.

The pickup came to a controlled stop on the left shoulder.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced the pedestrian deceased on the scene.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the pedestrian involved in the crash.
