Breaking News Overnight: 13-year-old driver flees FHP, arrested in Collier County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol arrested a 13-year-old juvenile after an attempt to flee from a traffic stop in Collier County this morning.

According to the FHP statement, at approximately 3:40 am, the FHP initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger for failing to maintain a single lane on Immokalee Road, near Wilson Boulevard, in Collier County.

As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated from the traffic stop and turned off the vehicle's lights.

The trooper pursued the vehicle, which eventually stopped on Immokalee Road at Quarry Drive.

The driver, a 13-year-old juvenile, was placed under arrest without incident for fleeing and eluding, and no driver’s license and is in the process of being booked into the Collier County Jail.

The FHP did not release the name or gender of the driver.
