Breaking News Overnight: Two dead, and two injured after a two-vehicle collision in Collier County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Collier County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:16 am, a 26-year-old Orlando woman driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling west on CR-858 (Oil Well Road), approaching the posted stop sign intersection of State Road 29.

At the same time, a 56-year-old Felda (FL) man driving a truck was traveling south on State Road 29, approaching the intersection of Oil Well Road.

As they approached, the SUV entered the intersection and failed to yield the right of way to the truck, and they collided.

After the collision, both vehicles entered the west grass shoulder and overturned.

Both the driver and passenger (a 52-year-old Orlando woman) were pronounced deceased. A second passenger (a 4-year-old girl) was critically injured and transported to an area hospital. The driver of the second vehicle reported minor injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
