Breaking Morning News: Motorcyclist dies after collision with box truck in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County this morning that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:23 am, a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle driven by a 31-year-old Kissimmee man was northbound on State Road 551 (Goldenrod Road) south of Alachua Street in the outside lane.

At the same time, a 2013 Isuzu Box truck driven by a 51-year-old Orlando man was traveling northbound on Goldenrod Road south of Alachua Street in the outside lane ahead of the motorcycle.

As they approached, the truck began to slow to make a right turn, but the motorcyclist failed to stop for the truck, and they collided.

The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth East Hospital and later pronounced deceased. The truck driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

 

The crash remains under investigation

The FHP did not release the driver's name or the name of the motorcyclist involved in the crash.
