Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Citrus County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:00 am, a Nissan Altima, driven by a 19-year-old New York, NY man, was traveling southbound on South Lecanto Highway, north of West Black Diamond Circle, when the sedan departed the roadway and entered the west shoulder.
Once on the shoulder, the vehicle struck a concrete power pole.
Transported to an area hospital, the driver later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
