Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Sumter County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Sumter County this morning that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:41 a.m., a Toyota Highlander, driven by a 62-year-old Lecanto man, was traveling westbound on SR-44.
East of Northwest 33rd Drive, the driver suffered a medical emergency, departed the roadway, entered a ditch, and struck a barbed wire fence.
The driver died at the scene of the collision.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the collision.
