Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 62-year-old New Port Richey man, was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 in the outside lane.
At the same time, a Kia Sportage driven by a 39-year-old Zephyrhills woman was traveling northbound and was stopped in the outside lane ahead of the motorcycle. A third vehicle, a Honda Pilot driven by a 34-year-old Wesley Chapel man, was traveling northbound in the outside center lane ahead of the other vehicles.
South of County Road 54, the motorcyclist overtook and collided with the second vehicle as the third vehicle merged into the outside lane and was likewise struck by the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, while the other occupants of the other two vehicles were uninjured.
The FHP did not release the motorcyclist or the other drivers' names involved in the collision.
