Breaking News Overnight: One dead, one seriously injured after a head-on collision in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Lake County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:58 am, a 39-year-old Greensboro, NC man driving a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling northbound (the wrong way) in the southbound travel lane on State Road 33 south of County Road 474.
At the same time, a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 27-year-old Wesley Chapel woman was traveling southbound on State Road 33 south of County Road 474.
As they approached, the pickup truck was in the direct path of the second vehicle, and they collided head-on.
The collision caused the first vehicle to overturn while the second vehicle rotated counter-clockwise.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center via AirCare with serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
