Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by pickup truck in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle last night in Marion County.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a 42-year-old Ocala man driving a pickup truck was traveling east on State Road 40 (SR-40) in the inside lane near NW 41st Avenue.

At the same time, a 73-year-old Ocala man was walking in an unknown direction within the inside eastbound lane of SR-40 ahead of the pickup. The driver did not observe the pedestrian in the roadway, causing the front end of the vehicle to collide with the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased on scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
