Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by two vehicles in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Pasco County this morning that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:20 am, a Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 19-year-old New Port Richey man, was traveling westbound on SR-54 in the center lane. 

At the same time, a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 68-year-old Holiday woman, was traveling westbound on SR-54 in the outside lane behind the first vehicle.

West of Highland Loop, a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway and was struck by both vehicles in succession. 

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old New Port Richey man, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

Neither driver was injured during the incident.

The FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian or the drivers involved in the crash.
