A 28-year-old Venice man died after losing control of a motorcycle on a sidewalk along U.S. 41 early Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:40 am August 14 near the intersection of U.S. 41, also known as Tamiami Trail, and East Baffin Drive.
FHP said the man was riding a 2008 Honda CRF motorcycle north on the east sidewalk of U.S. 41 when he lost control north of the intersection. The motorcycle fell onto the sidewalk.
The rider was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. FHP did not release his name.
Trooper C. Rivera is investigating the crash, with Corporal M. Sill serving as the traffic homicide investigator. The FHP Traffic Homicide Unit said its investigation remains active.
