A 31-year-old Haines City man died Saturday morning after being struck by a sedan on U.S. 27 near Cagan Crossings Boulevard. The Florida Highway Patrol said it is still investigating the crash.

A 31-year-old Haines City man was killed in a pedestrian crash Saturday morning on U.S. 27, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:39 am near Cagan Crossings Boulevard.
FHP reported that a 69-year-old Clermont man was driving a 2015 Kia Forte north in the inside lane of U.S. 27. According to a witness cited by investigators, the pedestrian had been walking in the left-turn lane before entering the northbound inside lane and lying in the vehicle’s path.
The underside of the Kia struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release his name in the report.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
FHP continues to investigate the crash.
