Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Glades County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, a 46-year-old Okeechobee man driving a sedan was traveling north on State Road 78, approaching the overpass on Indian Prairie Canal.
As it approached, the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and entered a water-filled canal.
Preliminarily, the crash occurred on 9/23/25; the time of the crash remains under investigation. FHP was advised of the submerged Vehicle 1 on 9/24/25.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
