A 59-year-old Anthony man died Saturday after his motorcycle left a Marion County roadway and struck a traffic sign, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:27 pm on County Road 35, north of State Road 326.

According to the FHP report, the motorcycle was traveling north on County Road 35 when the rider attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a fixed traffic sign.

The collision threw the rider from the motorcycle, which continued forward before striking a ditch.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His name was not released.
