Updating Breaking News: One dead, two seriously injured after a multi-vehicle collision in Glades County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle collision in Glades County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:30 am, a sedan driven by a 33-year-old Port St. Lucie man was traveling south on State Road 29, approaching slower traffic and Island Road.
At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old Sebring man (Vehicle 3) and a pickup truck towing a trailer driven by a 24-year-old Hardee man (Vehicle 5) were traveling south on State Road 29 behind the first vehicle.
Vehicle 2 (a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old North Fort Myers man) and Vehicle 4 (a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old Hendry man) were traveling north on State Road 29, approaching Island Road.
Vehicle 1 entered the northbound travel lane to pass the slower traffic.
As they approached, the front of Vehicle 1 collided with the front of Vehicle 2 on the northbound travel lane.
Post-collision, Vehicle 1 collided with Vehicle 3 and Vehicle 4, and the trailer portion of Vehicle 5 and Vehicle 2 collided.
The driver of the first vehicle was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene. A passenger in the first vehicle (a 23-year-old Pt. St. Lucie man) was seriously injured in the crash, as was the driver of the second vehicle. No other injuries were reported to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
