Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision yesterday in Hillsborough County that resulted in two drivers and six passengers suffering serious injuries.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:08 am, a Hyundai Entourage, Chevy Tahoe, and Chevy Silverado were traveling westbound on SR-400.
East of Thonotosassa Road, the Tahoe and Silverado were stopped in traffic when the Entourage failed to stop. As a result, it collided with the rear of the Tahoe, which rotated into the median, which continued forward and collided with the rear of the Silverado.
After the collision, the first vehicle traveled into the median and collided with a guardrail, while the third vehicle came to rest in the travel lanes.
The occupants of the first vehicle (a driver and three passengers with unknown descriptions) and the second vehicle (the driver, a 35-year-old Winter Haven man, and three passengers from Winter Haven - a 34-year-old and 63-year-old woman and 60-year-old man) were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 25-year-old Lakeland woman, reported minor injuries to the FHP and was not transported.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
