Breaking Morning News: Driver dies after two-vehicle collision in Columbia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in Columbia County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:05 am, a sedan driven by a 63-year-old Lake City woman was traveling east on CR 238 (Elim Church Road), and a semi (truck & trailer) driven by a 33-year-old Lake City man was traveling south on SR 47.

The sedan entered the intersection from a stop sign in front of the semi, causing the front of the semi to impact the left side of the sedan. Both vehicles overturned after the collision.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
