Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision in Duval County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:53 am, a pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old Jacksonville man and a sedan driven by a 25-year-old Jacksonville woman were traveling eastbound on State Road 228 (Normandy Boulevard); the pickup was in the right lane, sedan was in the left lane.
A sport utility vehicle driven by a 42-year-old Jacksonville man was in a parking lot on the south side of SR 228.
For reasons yet to be determined, the pickup swerved left and collided with the passenger's side of the sedan. After the collision, the first vehicle was redirected and collided with the driver's door of the SUV.
The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The drivers of the sedan and SUV reported minor injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
