From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:53 am, a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 25-year-old Tampa woman, was traveling northbound on Bruce B Downs Boulevard in the left turn lanes at the intersection of SR-56.
At the same time, a 66-year-old woman from Zephyrhills was walking eastbound from the median and entered the path of the vehicle.
As a result, the vehicle struck the woman, who was transported to an area hospital and later expired from her injuries.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the collision.
