Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Putnam County that resulted in critical injuries to an ATV driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:19 pm, a 27-year-old Palatka man riding an all-terrain vehicle was on West River Road west of Saint Johns Court.
It is unknown if it was stopped at the time.
However, a sedan driven by a 60-year-old Palatka woman driving a sedan was approaching the ATV from the west. The driver of the sedan did not see the ATV in the roadway.
The front of the sedan collided with the rear of the ATV.
After the impact, the ATV overturned, causing the rider to detach from his vehicle.
The sedan was brought to a controlled stop in the eastbound travel lane. The ATV came to final rest in a ditch, facing south.
According to the report, the ATV driver suffered critical injuries, while the sedan driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
