Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after two-vehicle collision in St. Johns County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in St. Johns County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:11 pm, a sedan driven by a 77-year-old San Mateo woman traveled eastbound across US-1 just north of Lewis Point Road from a private driveway.

At the same time, a van driven by a 41-year-old St. Augustine woman was traveling on US1.

As the sedan was crossing US1, the van struck the driver's side of the sedan.

St. Johns County Fire/Rescue responded to the scene due to entrapment and life-threatening injuries.

The sedan driver was transported to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. The van driver reported minor injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
