Breaking News Overnight: Four dead, two seriously injured after a three-vehicle collision in Collier County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle collision in Collier County this morning that resulted in four fatalities and injuries to two others.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:27 am, a Kia Forte sedan driven by a 30-year-old Immokalee woman was traveling east on State Road 82, west of Corkscrew Road. At the same time, a Subaru Ascent sport utility vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Ft. Myers woman was traveling westbound on State Road 82, and a Kia Sedona van driven by a 41-year-old Naples man was also traveling eastbound on State Road 82, ahead of the first vehicle.

As they approached, the first vehicle entered the westbound State Road 82 travel lane, attempting to pass the third vehicle, but collided with the second vehicle.

After the initial crash, the first vehicle rotated and collided with the third vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the second vehicle, and a passenger  (a 25-year-old Ft. Myers woman) were pronounced deceased on scene.

Three passengers in the second vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. One of those passengers (an 85-year-old Ft. Myers woman) was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver of the third vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
