Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist killed, passenger critically injured in Clay County crash

A 43-year-old Orange Park man was killed, and a passenger was critically injured Friday night in a motorcycle crash in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:20 pm at Moody Avenue and Whipple Court in Orange Park.
According to the FHP report, a motorcycle and pickup truck were both traveling east on Moody Avenue when the pickup slowed to make a left turn. The motorcyclist attempted to pass the pickup on the left in a marked no-passing zone and struck the left side of the truck.
The motorcycle operator, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP did not release his name.
A 41-year-old Miami man identified in the report as a passenger was transported to HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital with critical injuries. He also was not wearing a helmet, according to the report.
The pickup driver, a 24-year-old Orange Park man, was not injured.
FHP continues to investigate the fatal collision.
