Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies after collision with SUV in Sarasota County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Sarasota County yesterday that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:04 pm, an 18-year-old Sarasota man riding a motorcycle was traveling east on SR-72 (Clark Road), on the eastbound inside lane, west of Sawyer Loop Road.
At the same time, a 59-year-old Sarasota woman driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling west on SR-72 (Clark Road) in the westbound left turn lane, east of Sawyer Loop Road.
As the two vehicles approached, the SUV turned left in front of the approaching motorcycle and collided.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The SUV driver reported no injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation, including the pre-crash speed of the motorcycle.
The FHP did not release the names of the SUV driver or the motorcyclist.
