Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:54 pm, a Hyundai G80, driven by a 78-year-old New Port Richey man, was traveling westbound on SR-54.
At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 54-year-old New Port Richey man, was traveling westbound on SR-54 ahead of the first vehicle.
At the intersection of Fencepost Drive, the motorcyclist observed and yielded for an oncoming fire truck responding to a call for service. The first vehicle, however, failed to stop and collided with the motorcyclist, who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
