Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle in Collier County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Collier County last night that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:48 pm, a 36-year-old Naples man driving a 2022 Lexus sedan was traveling south on US 41 in the area of Bayshore Drive.

At the same time, a 68-year-old Naples man was attempting to cross the southbound travel lanes of US 41.

As it advanced, the front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital, and later pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the crash.
