Breaking News Overnight: Two-vehicle collision in Lee County kills motorcyclist

An 18-year-old motorcyclist and a passenger in an SUV were killed in a crash late Sunday night at a Lee County intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:23 pm at the intersection of Imperial Parkway and East Terry Street.
Troopers say the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old Fort Myers man, was traveling northbound on Imperial Parkway at a high rate of speed in the inside lane. At the same time, a 65-year-old Bonita Springs man driving an SUV was traveling southbound in a left-turn lane at the same intersection.
Both vehicles had a green traffic signal when the SUV attempted to turn left, entering the direct path of the motorcycle.
According to investigators, the motorcycle collided with the SUV's front-right side. The motorcyclist became trapped within the vehicle during the crash.
The motorcyclist and a 55-year-old female passenger in the SUV, also from Bonita Springs, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of those involved in the crash.
