Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that involved a Pasco County Fire Rescue ambulance.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:24 pm, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 39-year-old Wesley Chapel man was traveling eastbound on SR-54. At the same time, a Pasco County Fire Rescue ambulance was traveling southbound on Morris Bridge Road.

As they approached, the first vehicle continued under a green traffic signal at the intersection of the two roadways but failed to yield to the ambulance operating in emergency mode.

As a result, the front of the first vehicle collided with the side of the ambulance.

The four EMS personnel in the ambulance were uninjured; however, a female passenger who was receiving emergency care would later be pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

The driver of the first vehicle reported minor injuries to the FHP.
