Deltona man thrown from ATV, pronounced dead at hospital

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a fatal accident on Saturday, April 29 at Hog Waller Campground and ATV Resort, a 1,100 acre outdoor park in Palatka.

According to the FHP incident report, at approximately 2pm, three men were traveling in a Can-am Side-by-Side all terrain vehicle (ATV): a 21 year old driver from Deltona, a 30 year old front right passenger also from Deltona, and a 28 year old from Jacksonville. 

The driver lost control of the ATV and it overturned, ejecting the front right passenger from the vehicle. The passenger was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

No other injuries were reported.

Per the report, the driver  was wearing his seatbelt, but the passenger who was ejected was not. It is unknown at this time if the backseat passenger was wearing his seatbelt.

This crash is under investigation and may be updated if more details are known.
