Breaking News Overnight: FHP looking for hit-and-run driver in Pasco County collision with bicyclist

Deputies from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a pickup truck and a bicycle this morning, which resulted in serious injuries for the bicyclist and a driver leaving the scene.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:55 am, a pickup truck was traveling westbound on SR-54, in the left travel lane, approaching Sunlake Boulevard. 

At the same time, a bicycle driven by a 37-year-old Lutz man was traveling westbound on SR-54 in the left travel lane ahead of Vehicle 1. 

As it approached, the pickup overtook and collided with the bicyclist, who traveled to final rest in the grass median of SR-54. 

According to the report, the bicyclist sustained serious injuries.

Following the crash, the pickup truck fled the scene without rendering aid.  Based on the vehicle parts found at the scene of the crash, the vehicle is suspected to be a Ford F-150 pickup truck. 

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call *FHP or **TIPS.

 The FHP did not release the name of the injured bicyclist.
