FHP arrests driver on DUI Manslaughter charges in fatal single-vehicle collision on US-19

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Hernando County on Sunday that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, a sedan driven by a 38-year-old Hudson man was traveling eastbound on Tarpon Boulevard, approaching the intersection of US-19, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.  The vehicle departed the roadway, entered the north shoulder, struck an embankment, and traveled to final rest in a canal adjacent to the highway.

Transported to an area hospital, a 39-year-old female passenger in the vehicle later died from injuries suffered during the collision.

The driver, Andrew Michael Windsor, was later determined to be impaired, was arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter, and delivered to the Hernando County Jail. 

The FHP did not release the name of the deceased passenger.
