Updating Breaking News: 16-year-old dies in two-vehicle collision in St. John's County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in St. John's County that resulted in the death of a driver and serious injuries to the other driver and a passenger.

According to the FHP report, a sedan driven by a 16-year-old St. Augustine man, was traveling northbound on A1A. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 53-year-old Jacksonville man, and transporting a 53-year-old Jacksonville woman, was traveling southbound on A1A.

As they approached the driver of the first vehicle failed to maintain control of his vehicle and crossed over the center line, colliding with the front of the second vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased, while the driver and passenger in the second vehicle sustained serious injuries, according to the report.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passenger involved in the collision.
