A 73-year-old Crystal Beach woman suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash at US 19 and Oak Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The other three drivers were uninjured.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:35 pm on October 14. Troopers said the woman was driving a Lexus RX west on Oak Avenue while a Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 57-year-old Port Richey man, traveled north on US 19.
According to FHP, the woman attempted to cross all northbound lanes at the intersection, then turned north into the Hyundai’s path. The Hyundai struck the Lexus and came to rest along the east shoulder of US 19.
The Lexus rotated across the median and entered the southbound lanes. It first collided with a Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer, driven by a 27-year-old Tampa man, and then struck an Amazon delivery van driven by a 27-year-old Tarpon Springs man.
The Lexus driver was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. The drivers of the Hyundai, Chevrolet and delivery van were uninjured, according to FHP.
